Job Summary:

The Technical Writer is responsible for managing maintenance documentation tasks, projects and assigned staff. Will maintain Component Maintenance Manuals, Overhaul Manuals, Service Bulletins, Service Letters, and other various ATA compliant documents used in commercial aviation maintenance. May also review existing material and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, methods or reproduction.

Duties and Responsibilities

Produce printed technical training materials, documents and publications

·
Author and revise documentation such as Component Maintenance Manuals, Service Bulletins and Service Letters while complying with ATA iSpec2200 specifications

·
Read and interpret engineering drawings, test reports, and vendor data for inclusion in technical manuals

·
Evaluate product publication needs, cost and time estimates for delivery and reviews proofs of material to ensure quality control

·
Communicate with appropriate internal groups and subject matter experts to ensure content is accurate and meets requirements of the product or program specifications

·
May supervise subordinates and personnel assigned to technical documentation efforts

·
May develop and write engineering and regulatory documents, training manuals, presentation data and other technical publications

·
Prepare written material for publication by reviewing copy to detect errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar and syntax, in addition to verifying facts

·
Coordinate the distribution published materials

Preferred Qualifications and/or Education:

·
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a related field

·
3-6 years of experience working in a similar role

·
Basic knowledge of ATA iSpec2200 and S1000D standards

·
Specifically CMM, AMM, SB, SIL and other related documents
